Moonshot Innovations
As part of the XPRIZE Water Scarcity Challenge, the Q-Vortex* system has been submitted for three Moonshot Awards, each rewarding bold, next-generation innovation in desalination.
Marine-Friendly Intake Design
Q-Vortex uses a low-velocity, coarse-filtered intake that minimizes impact on marine life by reducing biomass capture to near-zero levels — inspired by best practices from subsurface intake systems.
Minimal Physical System Footprint
Thanks to its design structure, Q-Vortex* delivers 1,000 m³/day of potable water with an operational footprint well below 200 m²/MLD — ideal for dense, remote, or fragile environments.
Resource Circularity & Brine Management
The vortex process allows for the concentration and recovery of valuable salts, avoiding harmful brine discharge. This approach supports closed-loop water cycles and opens the door to new economic models in resource reuse.
Together, these innovations reflect our commitment to combining efficiency, environmental protection, and circular thinking, to make water access radically more sustainable.
